UIC Office of Diversity
Graphic Designer: 2018 – present
The Office of Diversity guides UIC’s strategic efforts to advance access, equity, and inclusion as fundamental institutional values underpinning all aspects of university life. Our office manages UIC’s diversity resources and infrastructure which includes initiating educational programs to promote a supportive university climate, partnering with campus units to formulate systems of accountability, cultivating mutually beneficial partnerships with the community and alumni groups, and advising the Provost for Academic Affairs as well as the Chancellor on critical diversity issues.
Weekly Events Calendar
The weekly event calendar was created to help promote the cultural centers on campus and their events. The poster is distributed weekly to each center and posted at physical locations and on social media. The events tab, diversity.uic.edu/events, is updated and maintained by myself. It is the first time the cultural center’s have had all their events centralized in one location. I maintain a close relationship with all seven cultural centers in order to address any issues with promotion, problematic materials, or addressing under represented students in materials.

Timeline Brochure for CCUSC
UIC is home to seven Centers for Cultural Understanding and Social Change (CCUSC), each with its own distinct history, mission, and location. Like many minority identity based centers across the nation, the Centers were born through student activism - the manifestation of the desire to promote the well-being and cultural awareness of underrepresented and underserved groups by validating lived experiences and providing institutional support to nurture student success. Through ongoing acts of activism and advocacy like these, our campus continues its transformation to achieve equity and inclusion at all levels and in all our activities.
All housed within the Office of the Vice Provost of Diversity, each Center stands as a beacon of UIC’s commitment to diversity, creating space for students to shape self-defined intersectional identities and expand cultural understanding. Our campus community— a place to work, teach, and learn— has one of the most diverse undergraduate populations in the nation. As a federally designated Minority Serving Institution, we embrace and nourish our unique community for it is through this diversity and the radical engagements that are born of it that we support the intellectual and humanistic growth of our students.
